Hunting around Berwick?
« on: August 30, 2011, 06:23:55 PM »
I may have an opportunity to hunt in the Berwick area this year.  I was just curious about the area, and whether it is a good area to hunt white-tails???  I know I'll probably get boooooed since I'm an out-of-towner looking to kill a Pa deer, but any HELPFUL guidance woud be appreciated.

Depends if you are going to be on private land or not.  Lots of deer on private farm land, but it can be hard to get permission to hunt, as most farmers open their land to family and friends only, especially if you are not from the area.  State forests and game lands get hit pretty hard.  I am about 25 miles west, near several large tracts of state forest.  Generally, if you are willing to get into the woods a little farther then the 1/4 mile or less most hunters go, you have better opportunity, and less pressure.  Go to the states website for a list of public lands, they are quite prevalent.

Just a thought. Go to Google maps and fly over the area! I do this and it ease my mind on an area.If i am not mistaken, there is a nuclear power plant there.  The deer may be really big.[LOL]
