We have tons of does, and the ratio of Does:Bucks has been out of whack for several years here in the middle of the state.  I have no problem filling my 5 tags and we eat it all in a year's time.  I have several friends who I have hunt my ground and they take several does a year as well.  Keep the tags comin....

Yah, there's several 100+ herds just within a couple miles of my Grand-dad's farm.  Last year was the same thing in this area and it didn't really even help thin them enough.  Think a lotta people have quit hunting or moved from our area.  Lotta places up for sale.  8(  We took 3 last year and I'm planning to be out with my step brother on the 15th to get some fresh meat.  ;)

Seen 5 last night out at my buddies hunting lease, and got one so my seasons starting out pretty good. She makes a nice addition to the freezer.

The doe to buck ration is way out of wack in the UP. I sit in my blind and see at least 30 differnt does to every buck and that includes small bucks. I can ride by farm fields in the areas where the deer population is very strong and see a 100 does in the field and maybe one buck.

ive been shooting only does or antlerless deer for about 3 years or so mainly here on my farm. i dont know if its connected or not but ive seen more bucks this year than ever.we took 4 antlerless last year and my son got a huge buck. 3 antlerless the year before and no bucks.id like to take at least 4 does this year between us.anymore i only shoot bucks if they are mature or obviously of bad genetics.it will be a long process but we are already seeing more and better bucks.

I wrote an article many years ago, when I lived in Mi., but no magazine would publish it.
And from what I information I got from the DNR back then was, that for for every buck fawn born, 4.3 doe fawns were born. That was a state average.
Most bucks taken were 1 1/2-2 1/2 years old, meaning the few bucks born each year, most would never mature.
Another factor is, that for every deer legally harvested in Michigan, one is either poached, dies of natural causes, or is hit and killed by a car.
So you can imagine the deer population if they did not  attempt to reduce the numbers by liberal doe tags.

I carry a single shot.
'cause it only takes one shot.
