Dumb ram rod question

Can someone tell me what the right ramrod diameter would be for a .45 rifle? I want to order a brass rod to replace the wood rod and the fiberglass range rod I use for my TVM poorboy.

Thanks for the quick reply. I'm not so sure about my ability to drill and tap a straight hole into a brass rod so I may just go pre-made. Me and wooden ramrods just dont get along. Mine is already cracked and I have broken several on other guns and I guess I just plain dont like that fiberglass super rod. I had brass rods for my old T/C hawken and Renegade and I liked the way they looked after they got a little tarnish on them. I thought the guns balanced a bit better with the added weight.
 
Anyone have experience with a brass rod and a 42" barrel? How do you like it?

dixie gun works has every thing you need. I bought my rod ends and rods (fiberglass) there.
I filed the rods down to slide into a 3/8s fitting then used epoxy and after that hardened I cross drilled the fitting and epoxyed in a pin.
I may have a couple of rods and an end or 2 I can fix you up with.

Lakota, I went and looked and I have two 3/8"x48" brown fiberglass ramrods and one 3/8s O.D. brass cupped end for ramming.
dixie and others sell every kind of ramrod end you can imagine.
if you can use them, PM your address and as soon as I can scrounge up a mailing tube that long I'll shoot'em too you.
