Michigan snaring demo Jan.11th
« on: January 05, 2004, 03:52:10 PM »
:D Sunday Jan. 11th there is going to be a snaring demonstration by Bill Knapp from Indiana at the Maple River State Game area. Demo is planned to run from 12 to 4. Part of the demo will be in a classroom setting and half will be in the field showing how to set the snares. There will be a $10 addmission fee with half the proceeds going to the MTA. If any of you have seen Bill's demo at the conventions you know this will be well worth the money spent.
For those of you who don't know the area Maple River State Game Area is located about 25 minutes north of Lansing and about the same distance south of Alma on US 127. To get to the demo area just find your way to US 127 and follow that to Ranger Rd. You will want to head east on Ranger Rd.. Follow Ranger Rd. for about 2 miles to Crapo Rd. and turn south. You will see three poll barns on the right hand side of the road. This is where the demo will be held. This location has some nice habitat around it and you should be able to get a good handle on how to set up your own area after the demo. The poll barn will be heated for the classroom portion, but come dressed for the weather as we will be going out in the field to show how to set snares after the classroom session. Plans are also to have a represenitive from law division to talk on the rules and regs also. This should be one heck of a demo folks so lets see how many we can get to come to this.
If any of the moderators read this I would appreciate it if you could keep this at the top of the page until the 11th so we can get some exposure for this.

Thank you,

Joe Rye
