from an old Benjamin pump to the Trail XL 1100NP
« on: September 01, 2011, 08:16:27 PM »
I think I am going to like this critter. Chipmunks are wreaking havoc around here. My arrows and rocks are not good bed fellows but the lead .22 pellets don't seem to mind. It shoots better and better the more I shoot it. Any hints or tips? It isn't the same animal as the old pump up.

You will want to get the after market trigger for it.   The only other thing is all piston guns are hard on scopes, so you might want to look into getting a good one.  Stick with domed or round nosed pellets, like the Premier and the JSB, they carry a lot more FPS down range than most of the other types and brands.

I  wish they made a real heavy pellet for the .22 caliber.  It won't see a whole lot of shooting as it is just for pest control and to be taken along when camping for something to plink with. If the scope dies I'll look for something in a fixed power. Not really sure of the proper maintenance of these new rifles. Guess I'll be doing some research. I am sure there are a tn of other rifles with more class, accuracy and craftsmanship but still i am impressed. I think the trigger is just fine however if I needed all "eyeball" shots something much lighter and fully adjustable would be in order.

the nitrogen-piston is not bad on scopes at all.

I don't recommend anything heavier than 16grs for that rifle or you will be blowing out seals. ;)
