Intertube instead of oring
« on: September 03, 2011, 07:24:55 PM »
Just use a piece of intertube cut to the size you need on forearm, eazy to size. If you goof up no problem cut a new one.

It should work just fine. You could add/remove layers till you got what you needed. I made a washer out of some scrap leather for the .357 max because I didn't have a spare O-ring laying around, just to test some loads. It has worked great and I see no reason to change it when I am getting 1" groups at 100 yards!

Inner tube will work but for most of us these days, an O-Ring is easier to find...

Yeah, Ive keep an old motorcyle tube laying around for the past 30yrs. just to have some when I need it. Bicycles still use them too, and it is much thinner.
O-rings are available at any hardware store (plumbing as well as 'bins') and auto parts stores, so they aint far away or very expensive. Your local auto repair shop may have some 'used ones' that they dont dare use for oil control in a rebuild but could bear to throw away yet. Ive even found them laying in the gutter (hey, you can laugh, but they go in the utility bin!), but dont depend on shopping there.........(geesh, youd think I was a 'Depression Baby')

I tried the inner tube idea but the valve stem kept me from getting the forestock back on the barrel. ;D   Just kiddin', sounds like a good idea to me.

Really, the inner tube is a great idea.  If it doesn't shoot correctly, just adjust the air pressure.
