Thanks!
Here are pics of the2 1980 pieces purchased before that one, a model 929 with some rosewood grips I found on Ebay, and a model 676 with 12" barrel.
I need to get all the 1980 pieces out, and take a class photo of them all!

I have a High standard with a 9 or 10 inch barrel on it and I thought it looked long.
That 12 incher looks frightening..

I have 2 of them, this model 676, and also a model 686.
Same gun, except the 686 has fully adjustable rear sight and target style front. Both 1980 manufacture.
My brother always laughs when he sees them, says it reminds him a an old cartoon.
The character pulls out a long barrelled handgun, and pulls the trigger.
When he does, a flag unrolls from bottom of barrel. Flag reads, Bang!
Never seen it, but he sure seems to think it's great.
Jim
Here's pics of my model 686 pieces.
One of all 5 barrel lengths ever offered.
All 1980 manufacture, except the 10", which wasn't offered until 1982.

1980 Model 686 4.5"

1980 Model 686 5.5"

1980 Model 686 7.5"

1982 model 686 10"

1980 model 686 12"

Yeah, I like them all too.
When I first started collecting H&R's, I would buy anything I liked.
I knew I could never afford everything I wanted.
My friend, Jim Hauff, suggested I come up with some sort of theme for my collection, and try to stick to it.
I got to looking at my H&R's and noticed that I had a few that all had the serial # prefix denoting 1980 manufacture.
Mostly convertibles. I decided I wanted to try and shoot for getting every model offered in 1980.
It was a really good year to choose, because there was a lot of changes made in 1980. The last year that some models were offered, and the first year the new and improved model of the same piece were introduced.
I still have 3 model 676's to get. Then I can concentrate on some more of the many other models .
I am very picky when it comes to the 1980 stuff.
If it isn't in at least excellent condition with the original box, I won't buy, or bid on it.
I could have many, many more pieces in the collection already if it weren't for me being so picky.
But, it makes my core collection, very nice. IMO!! 8)

Oh I agree, they are very nice.

I'm still looking for a bargain on a couple H&R Break Tops.......I may be to cheap. ;D
But I really like the looks of those little pocket mouse guns.

I've got a few top breaks too!
They are all Sportsman models though, not really what you could call mouse guns.
Here's a pic of my 4 1980 model 999 Sportsman's.
2 are 4" barrels.
2 are 6" barrels, 1 of each is unfired, 1 of each is a shooter.
All are wearing Jay Scott aftermarket grips.

Also have a pair of 1955 Sportsman, and a 1939 Model 777 Ultra Sportsman, 1 of about 1000 factory built competition revolvers.

Jim,
You're doing very well with your collecting.  I really like that 976 Deluxe - it's a real beauty.

Jim,
Thanks!
Yeah, I really like the new 976 too, the colors just really seem to pop on that one.
I have others that are really vibrant also, but i think I just got really lucky when I took the pic of the deluxe, the light just seemed to be right.
You know better than anybody, that when I take pics, it can really be a crap shoot as to the quality. ::)
I have a 22 mag cylinder listed for auction right now, and every time I check it, I cuss myself for the quality of pics I posted.
thinking about retaking them.
Cylinder is very nice, but it's hard to sell an item without excellent pics!

Doublebass,
I would like to run into a 16 gauge with the AU prefix also!
At this point, I pretty much stick to the H&R handguns, and haven't actively done a lot of looking for shotguns, but, if I ran into a 16 gauge, I would sure think about it!

Other than the Topper, I only have one other H&R shotgun, a 410 pump, model 402 I believe.

I only have one NEF handgun, an R73 built in '89 chambered in .32 H&R Magnum. If I buy another one it's going to be a 999 Sportsman, those are the best looking handguns they made in my opinion.

You won't go wrong there.
In addition to the 4 I pictured above, I also have a pair of 1955 999's, and also a 1939 model 777 single action Ultra Sportsman.
All great revolvers!!
