I have a custom built original Winchester hi-wall in 225 win.  I bought it off of my great uncle who has owned it since the 1960's.  It has a 12x unertl scope mounted on it, cusom stock, and heavy barrel.  I never see these guns around anywhere and was wondering what a gun like this might be worth?

Since it has been rebarreled the collector value is more or less nill so shooter value then is what matters. I've seen both HWs and LWs done as you mention with a rebarrel to some other caliber marked as cheaply as $300 for a kinda rough one to $400 for a really nice one to well over $1500 but sure had no takers at that.

Not sure the value of that scope or what it would add to the gun's price.

LJohns, I bet that thing is a great shooter though. Thats something beyond monitary value. I`ve always wanted a 225 Win in single shot and I`m probably not the only one here that would make that claim. Value what you have for what it is . Best of luck. POW

Gun List typically has the 12x externally adjustable Unertls anywhere from around $550 to $700.  Not sure if anyone is buying them at that price.  If in good shape the combination you describe should be a really nice outfit - makes me drool!

I can cut bullet holes at 100 yards easily with this gun off the bench.  My trouble is that I seldom get a chance to do much bench shooting.  I am considering selling it.  Its too heavy to carry in the field.  It is one heck of a shooter though!

I have even thought of making a new stock and re-barreling this gun to a 22-250 or a 243 and making a light varmiter out of it.  I could buy ammo over the counter and actually get a lot more use out of it in the field.  Anyone know where to get a good tappered half-octagon barrel?
