trying something different (to me)
« on: September 07, 2011, 06:12:47 AM »
I'm attempting to make a Spanish bronze cannon. I've never really worked with brass, so it's pretty new to me. I'm going to use Black Walnut again for the naval carriage, hope to be done in a week or so. I'm also planning on adding dolphins.

Very nice turnings, looks like you nailed it! are you going to do a spanish truck or field carraige?
Do you need photo's/drawings of a spanish truck carraige?
Mr president I do not cling to either my gun or my Bible.... my gun is holstered on my side so I may carry my Bible and quote from it!

Dave,
That's a fine project choice, and excellent execution!
RIP John. While on vacation July 4th 2013 in northern Wisconsin, he was ATVing with family and pulled ahead of everyone and took off at break-neck speed without a helmet. He lost control.....hit a tree....and the tree won.  He died instantly.

The one thing that you can almost always rely on research leading to, is more research.

Thanks gents! I appreciate the compliments. It's pretty close on the measurements I took of the drawing. The trunions aren't perfectly straight, which irks me a little, but not enough to redo them. Plus it's really only noticable from the under side. I can't wait to make the dolphins, looks hard/fun. I also MAY try engraving it like some of the originals are.

KABAR2, I would very much appreciate drawings/pics of the 'truck' carriage. Thank you!
