Pot Bellied Stove behavior
« on: September 07, 2011, 10:59:32 AM »

Let me just put this out there.

One thing folks forget is the Pot Bellied Stove should be a friendly place.
A place where we can sit around and chew the fat, so to speak.

Always a good idea to remember it's okay to agree to disagree.  ;)

We don't have to take things personal.
If you agree with something good, tell us.
If not express your opinion and let it go.

Also let's try not to let our differences carry over from other forums also.

I don't think most of us would put on the gloves and go at it if we were face to face over some of the thing we talk about here.  :o
Why do it here?

Now then to the important stuff, who’s buying the coffee tonight?  ;D

I really appreciate the discussions because they force me very carefully examine (and document) what I believe.  That's a healthy thing IMO.

I can agree with most of that, especially the part about personal attacks!

More than weaned.  Used to have a pot on the table beside the bed for my morning alarm.  Drank the stuff all day by the gallon.  Suddenly, for no reason about 12 years ago I lost a taste for it.  Literally started making me sick and I don't know why.  Guess you'll just have to ban me.   :(   But I understand.

The tought of chewing the fat around the pot bellied stove is a real thing for me. I use to do alot of duck hunting on the back waters of the big miss near Savanna Il. After the hunt, we would hit the local mon & pop country store. There they had a real pot bellied stove and big round table. Played cards, drank beer and BSed about the day on the water. All our ducks were right there on the floor. That was a great time. Always looked forward to that. Did it for 20 + years.

They say that the anonimnity of the internet makes people aggressive. This is the best forum that I have found where folks are civil. Of course there are those few, but I am learning who those guys are and seldom read what they post.

It has been brought up that this is a "conservative forum, so why are any liberals on it". Granted, more conservatives are hunters and gun people that liberals but neither group should be painted with a broad brush. Would it not get boring if only one mindset posted all of the time? Unless I am wrong I thought the more people registered on the site and the more that post, the better for the site. So in a long winded way lets accept that we all are different and embrace it instead of taking things to personal.

Exactly Guzzijohn.

Not that wa have to have a round of Cum by ya or anything.  ;D

But a lot of people have said it before "One of my buddies is opposite of me on lots of issues."
Doesn't mean we can't be buds.

One of the things that makes this website so popular is the friendliness of the folks here.

I've wondered why the pot belly stove thread is a sub-catagory under H&R rifles. Just grew up that way I suppose. As popular as it is one would think it would be it's own major thread with sub-catagories under it like politics and pinheads and patriots, things like that.

Nothing wrong with disagreeing with someone as long as it's kept civil but when someone starts using personal attacks against someone they don't even know except maybe through a web site and then proceed to accuse them of not knowing anything about what they are talking about then that is something different entirely.
I will defend myself against unjustified incrimination by others.
Like the late JOHN WAYNE stated in the movie THE SHOOTIST ("I won't be wronged, I won't be insulted and I won't be laid a hand on. I don't do these things to other people and I expect the same from them!").
I might ad to that quote that I won't be called a liar either!!!
I try to live by that quote everyday of my life so for someone to say I know nothing about which I speak, to me is the same as calling me a liar and I will not stand for that.
If you can prove I am wrong then I might let it slide but not when you have no proof of what my knowledge is on a subject.
If that rubs some people the wrong way then I am sorry, that is just who I am.

It was part of the H&R Forum that moved here when thier website died at it's old Marlin location.
There's info up in the rules at the top of the forum.
