I'm wondering.. who out there who has a Stevens in the 25-06, and uses what grain bullets?  Also, what brand ammo has worked best in your gun...

Bill, I don't own a Stevens in any caliber...but one of my hunting friends has one in a .25-06...I shot it in for him, and that gun would shoot...he used the blue box Federal ammo, and I believe it was 100 grain, but maybe 117..sorry, I can't remember, but it sure was an accurate rifle with Fed. ammo. ;)

The 200 in 25/06 has a 1in10 twist. My experience with all 25 cal. with a 10 twist is 100gr shoot the best. What you will get with heavier bullets depends on your rifle. I have six 25cal. rifles(all are 10 twist) and none will shoot 120gr bullets acceptably.
As far as ammo goes, I don't shoot factory ammo, however, my hunting friends tell me that the Remington 100gr Core-Loct is a good place to start.
Five of my 25's are Savage/Stevens  two of which are 200's. With just a little trigger tweeking the 200 becomes an excellent shooter. The only negative that I find with the 200 is the 22" barrel, but that is a personal thing and not a deal breaker.
GOOD LUCK and GOOD SHOOTING!!!

I had one until yesterday, when my brother in law talked me out of it. The only factory rounds I put through it were 120g Winchesters, and they shot well. I reloaded 117g SST's and 100g Barns TSX bullets and had very good accuracy with both. I wasn't using it last fall so I lent it it out and he liked it so much, he didn't want to give it back. He is playing h-ll with the local coyote population after losing a calf to them last fall.
