Will .356 shoot in a rifle chambered for .358?
« on: September 07, 2011, 07:58:08 PM »
I've heard that some of the lever guns chambered for .356 Win will function just fine with .358 Win ammo.  Never tried it.   How 'bout this:  Will .356 shoot in a .358 lever rifle?
Vote them all out, EVERY election!

Does anyone remember the scene from "Quigley Down Under" showing the aborigines lined up on the skyline as far as you could see?   That needs to be US!

Doubt it.  The 356 is semi-rimmed at .506,  the 358 rimless at .470.   I don't see how the shell would fully seat in the chamber.

Some shoot the 358 in 356 rifles, as the case does fit, but I wonder about gas leaking in a case rupture as the chamber is not fully sealed by the smaller 358 rim.

Why in the world would someone even try to do so?
If it was intended to shoot either ammo the factory would have stamped it that way.
Bad idea IMO!!!

I don't think so either. Seams to me the rim would get in the way.
