Patches and porting?
« on: September 08, 2011, 09:17:30 PM »
Greeting... I am curious as to what you all know about the effect of porting, as in the ported Guide Gun, on patches. Your thoughts and experience would be Appreciated. Thanks, Mike

Hello, rmk.  No experience, but it seems to me since others have had leading problems with ported brls., those sharp edged holes would do a good job shredding the patch?

Thanks for the reply .22-5-40. Yes I was worried about just that but had hopes that someone would pipe up and tell me how silly my concern was. I was not aware of the issue with lead being shaved but it seems that, if that's so then paper would surely suffer. On the other hand I wonder what practical difference it would make to the performance of the patch ie: would it effect the bullet's flight? Thanks again Mike.
