handi born on date help needed

Been looking at a handi with the first 2 letters of the serial number NC. Looks as though handi will mount barrels on the "N" recievers and looking a the second letter it looks like it was made in 1988. Will they still mount  barrels on a frame this old? Just want to know if it is a sb2 frame that I can work with and not a miss matched set. Thanks to all

They will not install rifle barrels on a frame that old, it has to be 1999 or newer, goto h&r website, read barrel excessory program, it is all explained there, you can get a shotgun or muzzleloader barrel put on it, if it passes inspection
