Wheeled soda can mortars

I completed a pair of soda can mortars from some left over material. Photos below. Sorry, no  powder can.  The barrel length is 9-1/2" and the wheels are 16" diameter.   Test firing tomorrow. ;D

You have created an American Revolution item called a Moritzer the colonials were short on Howitzer's so someone got the bright idea to mount a mortar on a carriage allowing a mortar to step in for the much needed howitzers..... I know of a re-created one base on a 12 pounder ... fired with ball recoil sent it back further than expected..... these should be interesting to shoot!

My quess is we will have to place a sandbag on the trail to keep it down.

They both belong to two other people now.  I think they may fire them at 45 degrees and horizontal.

As long as it doesn't impede rearward movement or cause the trail to dig in... then they may flip...

You should add a drop down foot under the barrel for high angle fire so the axle doesn't have to carry the load.

 What if one was to build a mortar with the trunnions on the sides and the barrel a couple of inches longer! How would that work for a small howitzer?

 I think what you are suggesting is something like a King Howitzer. The one below is a "Dom"  King Howitzer. Maybe, a little hair raising.....  :D :D   I know.. Bad Joke.  :(
