.260 Remington load data

I want to load some varmint rounds. I have on hand some 85 gr.Sierra hps. some H4895 and some IMR 4064. I'm guessing these powders are to slow for the light bullets. The pistol is a 15" Encore with synthetic  grip and fore-end. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks, dinger.

Either one of those powders will work well. I personally would lean toward IMR 4064. What usually shoots best in rifles will usually do the same in a pistol with a 15" or so barrel. Of course your velocity will be lower than a longer barrel rifle and you will get a bit more muzzle blast but you have to deal with that because you are reaching peek pressures within 15" or so in either barrel length. I once work with a model 94 Swedish carbine with an 18" barrel in 6.5X55 Swede which is about the same as the 260 Rem. The same medium slow powders 4350 & 4831 shot best top velocity and accuracy in either the 18" M-94 and the 29" M-96 Swede rifles. The lightest bullet I used was 120 gr and the same load  with AA 4350 which was the most accurate would average 2650 fps in the 18" and 3000 fps in the 29" barrel. In a 29" M-96 sporter 6.5X55 rifle I use Varget with a 100 gr Sierra HP on ground hogs and it vaporizes them.

I have a 20" 260 Rem, I find the faster powders to work best in the shorter barrel.

Thanks for the replies shot1 and quick! The reason for the data request is cause I might get an invite to face down some ornery pd's that have been vexing a guy I met thru my job. He and his buddy have been going to a nice quiet spot to do some shooting and a problem has presented itself. If everything forms up I'll bring my .223/.308 Handi combo and this Encore just cause it deserves to be out in the field. Again, many thanks , dinger.
