Accessory Barrel Policy Change
« on: September 13, 2011, 06:13:41 AM »
Dunno if ya'all have noticed it or not, but H&R has changed their policy on what SB2 frames they'll fit rifle barrels to, they only fit 357mag and 44mag rifle barrels to SB2 frames made prior to 1999, no other rifle barrels including the low pressure Hornet, 30-30 and 45-70. Kinda puzzling why they'll fit high pressure barrels to the outsourced  '99 frames now, but wouldn't before.  ???

SB1 frames still 357mag, 44mag, Huntsman and shotgun barrels only for 1987 and on.

Best advice is to call and give them the frame serial number BEFORE sending a frame in.

Thanks for the heads up Tim. I have a 97' frame that came from the factory with a 280 barrel on it, then shot 243, 270 and 30-06 barrels on it and had no problems with it at all :o

That's a moot point, this applies to current factory fitted accessory barrels, not what actually works for those that fit barrels themselves or have original factory rifles which I have a bunch of both.

I get it, liability issues and all. I won't let it stop me from mounting barrels on my frame or stop me from getting SB-2's that are within those years.
Good info to know before any one buys their first Handi though.
