As most of you know, I'm a big fan of the 44 Mag and not such a fan of the 45 LC. Well.... scratch that. 'Ol CW finally got to me and I started doing my homework on "hot" loads for the 45 and how they compare to the 44 mag. I put together some "stout" loads today using XTP's and H110 and I was amazed at the difference. The stoked up loads turned the 45 from plinker to thumper! And even better it's super accurate. I can't believe I waited so long to get one. ;D

Having just acquired a .45 LC, I'd be interested in more information on the loads and data.

Careful that CW also loves shorties.... maybe the bug is as catchy as the Handi itus. :) 
Post some pics when it proves it is better than a 44mag. (couldn't help but throw out the challenge... post pics either way once it goes hunting)

I've still got a soft spot for the 44 but the 45 really impressed me today. ;D  Since you mentioned the hunting... I hammered a woodchuck today with the 45 and it wasn't pretty. The 250gr. XTP wasn't kind to the poor 'chuck. :o 
I gotta start bringin' my camera with me when I'm woods roamin' ;)

If I had to pick just one rifle and one pistol, it'd be my .45 LC Classic and my .45 LC New Model Blackhawk.  I can pretty much do anything I need with that combo out to 150 yards with the iron sights.  ;)

I've taken more game with the 44, but my pick is the 45 for sure.  The more I use it the more I like it.  It'll do anything the 44 will do and then some.  Now, why didn't ya believe CW anyways? ???   He agreed with me, musta been right. ;) ;D   DP

Well, should probably clarify.  150yards with the carbine and the blackhawk is good to about 70 yards.  I don't think I'd be hitting much with the pistol at that range.  ;)  I'm using my handloads with Reloader7 and 300 gr. xtp magnums in the carbine, which extends its range a bit too.  ;)

The 250 XTP seems to work well in the Handi no matter what powder you use with it.

Yea the 45 COLT is a great cartridge. There is good reason it has survived the past 100+ years... It simple keeps getting better and better.
