We're fighting the good fight here in New Hampshire. We may have a moonbat Democrat governor but the house and senate just showed him who's boss:

CONCORD, N.H. -- Despite objections from law enforcement and a governor's veto, the New Hampshire House has passed a bill into law that allows people to use deadly force to defend themselves any place they have a right to be.      The 251-111 vote Wednesday comes a week after the Senate voted to override Gov. John Lynch's veto. The deadly force bill is based on the Castle Doctrine, which says a person does not have to retreat from intruders at home before using deadly force. The bill expands that principle to public places, anywhere a person has a right to be. The principle is known as the Stand Your Ground Principle.      More than two dozen states have passed either one or both of the measure.

Bravo!!!!  Bravo!!!!  I never get that.  Why wouldn't you be in favor of a free people defending themselves from criminals . . . anywhere they have a right to be?  Only because you distrust such people.  It is fair to assume that in some cases someone will misuse this freedom.  Granted, we are imperfect beings.  But it also has to be considered that this freedom will oftener be used with sound judgment and with the results of keeping lawful citizens from harm they would otherwise suffer.  Also what needs to be considered is the effect this should have on criminals.  They will commit fewer crimes because they fear retribution here and now.  They may need to think about other means to sustain their living, other than committing crimes.  That is a POSITIVE social effect.

Putting the ideologue issue aside. In random order. Police the entire legal system( Judges, lawyers, expert witnesses) make their living by defending or prosecuting people. They don't like their work lessened.

Good point, this is why drunk driving punishments have remained lax over the years despite the fact that it  takes the lives of tens of thousands each year. Too many lawyers are making money off of drunk drivers to want to actually make the punishment fit the crime. Each time you see these repeat offenders that have 10 drunk driving arrests you can thank the dirtbag lawyers that got paid each of those 10 times.

It's been 3 weeks since that law took effect and somehow New Hampshire hasn't turned into the wild west like the governor said it would  :) :) :)

I haven't read or heard of any place getting more violent after the citizens are able to be armed, to the contrary it has gotten less so.
