If it were me I would buy an SP101 or something designed for the round. Cost would be similar to rechambering, and I would feel a lot safer shooting a gun rated for 5X or so the pressure that the Charco is (in 327 anyway)

I heartily agree with Nobade.. Eyeballs are too hard to replace.. Just sell the charter and go with the SP101. I've one in 32 H&R and like it alot.. Not an easy pistol to get a great trigger on but very useable.. Wish I'd waited and bought the 327.. but it was before that was available.

Now this isn't the reloading column but loading a 32 long to the velocities developed by the 32 H&R will generate the same pressures or perhaps even mopre than the 32 H&R would develope! That is sure to cause the same problems we were warning of for the conversion. The 32 long is a fine cartridge, if more power is needed the 32 H&R or 327 can be purchased in a stronger gun.  I personnally would avoid loads that would generate any pressures greater than reccommended in the loading manuals...

Well I partially agree with that however factory rds and reload info is for use in all 32 longs including the old old shooters.so steping it up a bit at a time and watching for stress should be feasable ?? Mike

What you're talking about is a +P load for the 32 long for your Charter. I suppose that could be done, the problem is the pressure signs you will be watching for may appear after the 'safe' level is surpassed. The Charter is a modern revolver built of strong modern materials but even so heavy loads will loosen it faster. So perhaps a few wouldn't do extreme damage but I don't know were the line is and you won't know when you've crossed it. If that much power is needed for the task you are contemplating I still recommend a switch to a revolver chambered to the 327 mag of the 32 H&R mag. They can easily fire 32 long ammo for practice and will last much longer with full power level loads.

Ya GN69 your right bought it for the wife and I guess teaching her to place the shot right, safety and praying she never has to use it are more important than more power.Having the 32 to carry will give her more confidence if a situation should arise besides she really enjoys shooting the little bugger and is paying more attention when we practice which is something she didn't do even with 38's in my 357, thanks alot no sense loading it with something that could hurt her worse than who she might have to use it on.Mike
