Reske    More ways to share...                                                          Share:          More . . .   A    A   |     Email Us   |     Print   |     Forward Article          Some illegal immigrants are the equivalent of jaywalkers, while others are serious criminals, a White House official said in describing the administration’s focus on prioritizing deportations, CNSNews.com reported.

Cecilia Munoz, the White House’s intergovernmental affairs director, made the comment during a Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute conference this week.

"If you were running the police department of any urban area in this country, you would spend more resources going after serious criminals than after jaywalkers. DHS [Department of Homeland Security] is doing the immigration equivalent of the same thing," Munoz said.

Under the new Immigration and Customs Enforcement policy, immigration officials will prioritize deportation orders, targeting those convicted of serious crimes or who are a national security or public safety threat. The policy also directs agents to take into consideration how long illegal aliens have been in the country and whether they are married and have children.

"We have 10 million, 11 million undocumented people in this country and it's abundantly clear to anybody who's paying attention that we're not going to deport that entire population," Munoz said.

"It's not humanly possible. It's ridiculously expensive . . . and so what DHS is doing for the first time is trying to have a strategy around the law-enforcement work that it does, and so while it's enforcing the law vigorously . . . it's also making strategic judgments about who is a priority for enforcement and who isn't."

 Inside the bag were six assault rifles, a grenade launcher, a rocket launcher, 20 ammunition magazines for various-sized weapons and three packages of what appeared to be C-4 plastic explosives, a Border Patrol news release said.

The idea that it is not humanly possible to deport 10 to 11 million people is pure stupidity. If they would deny them welfare, free medical, food stamps and housing assi,stance and prosecute corporations that employ them; they would go home. Recently in Kalifornistan and Arizona due to the lack of jobs due to the recession, many of the illegal aliens voluntarily went home. They weren't making enough money to stay in the US.

I view anyone who is not a legal resident of the United States of America and takes advantage of all the social services,  drives without a license or insurance, bankrupts hospital emergency rooms, floods public schools with non-english speaking students, etc.,etc., as a threat to national security.

Eisenhower deported 2 million in the 1950's.  Took them by bus and ship 300 miles inside Mexico and left them.  We had about 180 million people back then.  We have 310 million now.  A little higher percentage now 1%+ then, 3%+ now.  Why not.  We have buses, trains, planes, and ships.

That was my first thought too. Check the serial numbers on the guns and trace the C4.
But it also brings to mind the threat of terrorism coming across the border.
