Are you taking into consideration all of the variables? Of all the variables involved in putting a bullet on target, the rifle itself is actually the most constant. Assuming it doesn't heat up during shooting sessions, or has a defect, it will perform consistantly. It is the variables that determine accuracy.
Accuracy=variables(firearm+ammo+sights+weather+shooter,etc).
Of these variables, the rifle is the least variable. While sighting in my Handi, it was all over the place. Later, I found the scope base was loose. Fixing that, I fired at 100 yards and noticed that, even with sand bags, I was having trouble holding crosshairs inside that 2" bull. I could cover the 100 yd. group with my fist. Taking all variables into account, I'm convinced the rifle is more accurate than I am. Competition shooters are very good at controlling the variables. And that is what makes it a competition. If it was all in the gun, everyone would be getting all X's.
