I think a lot of the voters are getting fed up with both parties. The Tea Party is made of up of Conservatives tired of Liberal Republicans taking over the party, and promoting unconstitutional laws and wars. Look at the different views on this forum among conservatives.
Me and several others like the Constitutional Libertarian stance of Ron Paul. Some (actually) more like the Liberal, NWO war hawk choices, such as Palin, Perry or Mitt!

Some of the Democrat voters I know are fed up with the likes of Obama and other Liberal Democrats. I think there is dissension in both parties.

   Clearly you missed a very large group...those who are COMPLETE*  conservatives !  Those who may very well consider Perry, Palin, Bachmann or even Gingrich acceptable at different levels, with Romney, Huntsman & Johnson trailing FAR off in the distance...
     I perhaps should not have included the latter two, since their chances are rather slim..in any case.
 
    *  A candidate can be a COMPLETE conservative only when he/she is both a fiscal and cultural conservative.  Anything less is only a PARTIAL conservative...
