Results with Leverevolution Powder, 150gr NBT 30-30 Handi...
« on: September 20, 2011, 11:08:49 AM »
I wanted to try this powder to see if it's real or marketing hype, with the results I got last weekend,  I'd have to tell people to not waste their money on this powder.  With the hottest safe load in my rifle, I got 2290fps which I've easily matched with other powders, three shot groups averaged around three inches, not near as good as I've done with 3031.  I tried dropping off one grain at a time, by the time accuracy was decent, I was running under 2200 fps, again no advantage over two or three different powders I've used in the past.  I also tried some Hornady and Remington round and flat nose bullets in both 150 and 170 grain, saw no improvement in speed or accuracy over the Ballistic tips or my IMR 3031 or WW 748.

Thanks for the report. One thing I've noticed about 30-30 Handi's is that they usually shoot so well with factory ammo that it's hard to improve upon. I tried several different handloads for my 30-30 and I never got it to shoot better than it did with plain jane Core Lokt's.

I have had excellent results with LE propellant and the stated bullets Hodgdon used to test this powder with my 30-30's. As far as I know only a few loads have been worked up for it. Hodgdon states to only use it with the bullets they tested and to follow the load data they have publish. I was able to acheive 2300+ fps with very good accuracy with a 170 grain bullet. I think LE is a winner for me.
