over weight sappy pecan log
« on: September 20, 2011, 12:28:12 PM »
I live in coastal NC and the recent storm has provided more logs than I can ever saw on my small mill.
Recently acquired a 20' pecan log.It was too heavy for my tractor with front loader to lift and had to cut it down to about 12+ feet.Made the first cut and decided to cut it bark-on,as it is just too heavy to turn(Very green log).
There is so much sticky sap that the blade began to wave with the lubricant turned up to max. Ruined some prime wood. Now I have a 3000lb++ log laying on the bandmill bed and lots of other logs to saw. What to do? Reckon I should just pull it and wait a year or so?   G66

Wedge the front cut end and back it out.
