Vari-X II 3x9x40- What's it worth?
« on: January 07, 2004, 11:02:36 AM »
I have a Vari X II 3 x 9 x 40 that was probably manufactured in the mid 1980's ( I bought it used in 1990).  It is gloss finish and has a custom 3 minute dot from Premier Reticles installed in it.  It shows normal wear on the tube, but optics are great.  I was planning on sending it to Spradlin's and having it recoated to a matte finish, but instead I may sell it and buy a newer model with a Leupold Dot (I really like that reticle!).

Anybody care to offer an opinion as to what it may be worth?

Thanks for any help

I have never bought or sold a used Leupold Vari-X II 3-9 at more than $150 and more often for less. The dot can help or hurt the sale depending on whether the prospective buyer likes it as you do. If you were selling to me it would hurt. To someone else it might help.
