I have followed this closely since I learned of the
murder of Kelly Thomas a few weeks ago.
It is a good start. I was wrong. Like Kelly Thomas' father, I expected the worst: a complete white-wash and stonewall from prosecutor. Well, that's not what has happened. Here is video of prosecutor announcing the charges:

I suspect he's doing only what he feels he absolutely MUST do... but this is progress, and I'm grateful for it.

Jay Cicinelli have gotten off easy, so far. They were allowed to surrender before being arrested. They weren't given the jackboot treatment as citizens often are for similar charges. The weren't forced to the ground at gun point. No one forced a knee into their pack while their faces were abraded by pavement, and then wrenched their arms while handcuffing them.
