Wow; a man can always learn and do by studying, research, and just plain ole country boy ingenuity, bred by want to and necessity.
I am now using my brass shotshells primed with large pistol primers. I am using 3/8" fiber wads, Alcan flite-max wad columns, one 1/4" nitro wad. I am charging this with Herco (test fire today), and dropping in one Lyman lead slug cast from my old mold. When these brass shells are loaded, wife gave me a small little "crock pot" wax melter. I use my own bee grown beeswax, since I am a beekeeper, and I use my wax to seal the tops of my cases. They look really good. Will find out how they shoot, today, too.
Mind you, this is an ongoing project. Of course, I'm interested in hitting power, but I will not own anything that is not accurate, if you do your part. This is a tremendous therapy, and really been a blessing to me.
See yall later, keep the slugs flying and the keyboard hot. Lots to learn about this almost "ancient art" of chunking big chunks of lead.
Best,
