Anybody use AA #9 in the .454 Casull?
«

I'm almost out of H110 and I have a whole pound of AA #9, a winter at home with my daughter, and a reloading bench begging to be used while she takes her naps. I have cast bullets ranging from 250 gr. to 370 gr. and some 300 gr. XTP-MAG. Any suggestions or favorite loads with this powder? I'm using a 12" Encore as my big-bore toy.

:-D I use AA #9 in my 454. I use a 250g bullet, both cast and XTP (for the 45 LC) and 31g of AA#9. for my 300 grainers, I use Lil' Gun. This works in my gun, reduce and work up!

Thanks for the info. Are you using gas-checked cast bullets? All I have is plain-base and when I start to wind them up the accuracy goes to pot.

Yes both of my molds are gas checked, with out gas checks the best that you can hope for would be 45 Long Colt loads. at the speed that the Casull put out, your barrel would be compleatly leaded in just a few shots. I think.
