Remington Model 8 ?
« on: September 25, 2011, 03:42:40 AM »
Been kinda looking for a .35 rem. Fellar showed me his Model 8. Very nice looking gun. Only flaw I seen was a nickel sized rust spot on the barrel. I searched the forum found picts but no commentary. I would appriciate your input.

The reason I want one is for Deer. I do not shoot my guns alot, so it will not see heavy usage. Let me know what you think. Also what price range have you seen them in.

 Thanks
Lonny

Heavy, hard to carry in the field the barrel blowback makes recoil seem more than it is and they are truly masterpieces of the designer's fertile mind. John Browning. These and the Remington 14's are truly works of art. Get one if you can. Especially if you like mechanical perfection and workmanship.

I used to own a .35 and a .30 they were cool guns. Rob Applegate was building me a 475 linebaugh marlin 94 a few years  back and told me one day he collected those model 8s. Hes such a nice guy and a good friend so i sent him the .35 and my buddy her localy absoultely drewled on my 30 so it went to him as a gift. there great old guns. there put together with alot of hand fitting and have quality that the newer rem autos are sure lacking in.

Good possibility. The gun was made 1901-1936. Was used by the police. Bonney and clyde died in 1934. So I guess it is possible.

Frank Hammer used one along with his men to kill Bonnie & Clyde.  It was a .35 Remington.  A nice one went for $500.00 recently in a local pawn shop.
