cross over thought

I was looking at a honda crossover last night that my hunting partners son in law bought and was thinking that some manufacture out to cut one up and make a little pickup out of one. Youd have 4 wheel drive, granted not a true off road 4 wheel drive. Great gas milage and the ability to haul small loads that a guy wouldnt put inside of a crossover like say a deer or two. Nobody makes a 4x4 pickup that gets much more then 22 mpg and one that got 30 would sure be handy. I would never replace my full sized truck but would sure make a great second vehicle.

Subaru made a model called the Baja that was discontinued after the 2006 year model it seems.  Used Baja's bring big bucks.

Mahindra was suppose to introduce a turbo-diesel hybrid for 2011 but it hasn't materialized yet.  The Mahindra looks like it would be great for your needs.  I'd like one in "crew cab" configuration and 5'-6' bed would be more than adequate for my wants and needs.

yup something like a suburu bratt but a bit bigger. we travel 120 miles daily round trip to hunt crop damage deer and the gas is expensive for my full sized chev 4x4. You sure arent breaking even when you bring home only one deer and get 30 lbs of meat off it. We figure we break even if we get two and theres some nights that we get skunked.

I've always thought that doing this would be a great idea. A Honda CRV converted to a truck bed? Call it a CRT? Kind of like the El Camino and Ranchero used to be, but with all wheel drive. Not a full off road type vehicle, but something that can handles snowy roads and fire roads and such. I think there would be a great market for that.

yeah... necessity is the mother of invention, right?  Ever been to europe?  One that I saw a bunch over there was a made by VW normally.  It was a small turbo-diesel van with a double cab and a small bed on the back (about 4.5 feet).  Normally over there it would be a turbo-diesel and you could get it in 4-wheel drive.  I would imagine it would get in the high 20's on the road.  The other is the mini-pickup.  They haven't grown to near-full sized like the ones here.  Also they come with a 2.5liter to 3liter turbo-diesel.  Wouldn't it be nice to be able to get a small truck like the previous generation Tacoma's with a 2.5 liter turbo diesel and a 6 foot bed and 4 wheel drive?

yup a little turbo deisel 4x4 pickup would be nice. I just cant figure it out. Most of the small trucks sold in america dont get a bit better gas milage then a full sized 4x4. I owned a v6 dakota and a v6 s10 both 4x4s with manual transmitions and the dakota didnt even have air and my full sized club cab chev gets better fuel economy the either of them did. they can make full sized cars like impalas and crown victoria fords that get near 30 mpg on the highway, heck 10 years ago they were getting that out of full sized buicks and oldsmobiles but can get a little truck to get over 20. Seems like with small trucks they consentrate more on shoe horning the most hp they possibly can into them instead of compromising and getting some gas milage

There was something very popular in Korea, maybe a Porter but I might be wrong on that.  Almost like for inside a warehouse - cab-over, strictly 2 man, maybe a 4 x 6 flat bed with no sides.  Would have to be beefed up for the US, just little bitty tires, but very interesting, definitely good mileage.

problem with most of those is they top out at only about 60 mph. Most would have problems mantianing pace on even a rural blacktop road and i dont know how long theyd hold up with your foot planted in the floor all the time. .
