I am pretty sure I will be making the trip to Florida here in the next few days. The guy I have been working for , for the last 2 and a half years has a break in work coming up. We don't have anything to start for a couple weeks after we finish this big deck we have been working on. I will have about $1,100.00 coming to me and should be enough to make the trip. There are still a couple things I need to do before I can leave. I have to to get a brake controller installed in my truck. I think I can install it myself but it's still going to cost me $100.00 for the unit. I also need to have the bearings on my trailer checked. I got a guy from Craig's List that is going to re pack them with grease for $60.00. Other than that I think I'm ready to go. I am just worried about braking down on my way and not having the money for repairs. My truck has been a very good truck and has not let me down. It runs real good but it does have 195,000 miles on it now and am worried something could go wrong at any time. Well thats my update take care Dale

What gets our trucks is transmission temp. The cool weather should help, and keep your speed down, and you will be fine.

I guess the one good thing is my radiator has a transmission cooler built into it. Thanks for the heads up. Oh one other thing I was talking to my boss today about the trip and I told him I was thinking about getting some good sleep before I leave and to try to drive straight through. I did that many times when I was younger and only stopped to use the bathroom. He seem to think that it would be hard on my truck to do so. What do you guys think. Would I be better off stopping every few hours for an hour to let the truck cool down? Take care Dale

i would say
after an  hour  its as hot as it will get
the cooling and reheating would probly be worse
you might want to check fluid levels at   gas stops

Tim I will probably have to pull along the road in front of where I used to live because the drive way is not deep enough for the truck and trailer. When I walk back to your house you don't have any dogs that will eat me like you used to do you? My phone is off right now because I have not been paid in a few weeks but will be back on for the trip and will give you a call when I leave. Thanks Dale

   I think you worry to much. I drove a truck load of equipment for a company that i was working for at the time. Drove from Buffalo,NY to Orlando and back again. The truck was shot when i left. Well over 100,000 miles on it and a piece of junk. Got pulled over for a tail light bulb out. That was the only problem i had with that piece of junk.
