Thoughts on my first match
« on: December 29, 2002, 01:47:28 PM »
Just finished cleaning my four guns from the Texas Regulators December match.  Spent some time reflecting on it (was standing in front of a mirror so it was pretty easy to reflect.)
Again, everyone was happy to be there, to be shooting and (gasp!) to see me.  They smiled as they took my 2003 dues.  As I had been to part of a match last month I brought the horse's head I had made for Ol' Paint (see another post to see him in all his glory.)  Also showed up early to help set up the stages--Momma told me never to be an empty-handed guest.
The shot the 6 stages twice, once on Sat and again on Sun.  Amazing that each stage today was like I had never seen it before (loved 5th grade, spent 3 years there)
Started out with a few misses but settled down and actually shot a few clean--took forever but didn't miss, HeeHaw!
My posse was a great group--kept it light and fun and to me that's what it is all about:  fun.
Think I'll stay awhile...

Amen to that!  Figure at my tender age of 56 I need to do what I can to enjoy my remaining time on this big ol' blue marble we can Earth (heard that somewhere and always wanted to use it)
One of the members of the posse remarked that he was 12 years old again.  And playing cowboys.  And having a blast.

One of our pards named Sawyer wrote an article in the Cowboy Chronicle titled"Today I was a Cowboy". That title about sums it up for me! Welcome to fold, pard!  :D
