Have heard they dont like plastic hulls. I wound up with 2 of them that just sit around. One belonged to my late father in law and the other was given to me because the gal dint want it at her house. Any way took it out the other day and stuffed couple rds in it. One time it dint eject the hull, one time it managed to get 2 rounds off before it decided not to eject the 2nd hull. Was woundering if polishing the chanber with a fine grade of crotus cloth on the end of a wooden dowell and using an elec. drill might clear up this prob. Also first a good cleaning and lube after polishing. Basicly what I plan on using it for is to take in the boat while fishing. I cut the bbl to 20 ins. I got the gun for nothing. The one that was my father in laws will probably sit in the safe till I find out how to get the other one working right. Tks for any help in advance.

How do you know it's the plastic hulls? Have you tried paper hulls. I believe I'd start by checking the extractor & ejector.. Thats more than likely where your problem is.

I've only shot one of them that belonged to my best friend Billy Doss (deceased) but all we ever used in it was plastic hulls. It fed them flawlessly and I must say I shot it rather well. It seemed to fit me nicely.

   I think pastorp has the right idea. They were replaced on the one my brother owned. Used it for years after that with no problems.

Had one for a few years and used nothing but plastic hulls in it - worked great.
 
Remember, these are adjustable for light or heavy loads.  Take the forearm off and check to make sure the friction ring and the other ring (forgot the name of it) are in the proper positions for the loads you're using.

Tks for the replys,  As soon as I get my 2 loads of fire wood put up (or as soon as son gets it put up, I help by watching, this per the heart Dr,) will give it a good cleaning and start checking parts. Some place in my gun books and papers have a drawing for one. Where I got the idea they dont like plastic hulls is somebody told me this several yrs ago. Have only owned one auto and it was a Browning Sweet 16 when I was a kid.

The Remington 11 is a Browning A5 made under license from Browning by Remington. They work the same.

Over time I have had a number of Model 11s.  As greybeard said it is an Auto 5 action.
I wonder if the rings are not set up for the light loads of most target loads.
If you remove the forend you will see two friction rings adn a big spring,
Depending on how you install the rings on the mag tube is what gun will function with.
For heavy loads put the spring on, then the steel ring with the taper to the spring then the bronze ring.
For light loads the steel ring, tyaper to the spring, then spring then bronze ring.
If the gun has a cuts comp then you set it up as Bronze, spring, then steel with flat side to the spring.
If the gun is set for cuts, and you do not have a cuts the gun may not work right.  Same with the obvious heavy set with light loads.

Remember that the way the gun works is the barrel needs to go back so far as to allow the hull to clear the action.  If the spriung is set too tight then a low power load will not move the barrel back far enough to clear the action.
Also cutting the barrel will raise your point of impact.  You may want to get a tall front bead or set up rifle sights.
