Over time I have had a number of Model 11s. As greybeard said it is an Auto 5 action.
I wonder if the rings are not set up for the light loads of most target loads.
If you remove the forend you will see two friction rings adn a big spring,
Depending on how you install the rings on the mag tube is what gun will function with.
For heavy loads put the spring on, then the steel ring with the taper to the spring then the bronze ring.
For light loads the steel ring, tyaper to the spring, then spring then bronze ring.
If the gun has a cuts comp then you set it up as Bronze, spring, then steel with flat side to the spring.
If the gun is set for cuts, and you do not have a cuts the gun may not work right. Same with the obvious heavy set with light loads.
