Internet Bear Hunt?

Hi All,
 
I read a liberal blurp on the internet today about a Minnesota hunter who legally shot and tagged a female black bear.  Turns out the bear was part of a research study but wasn't tagged or collared so the hunter didn't know this.  Seems the tree huggers that watched this particular bear born on the internet (researchers are supposed to have put a camera in the den?!?!) a couple of years ago are up in arms, at least accordingly to the article I read.  Any MN hunters know the real skinny on this?  Maybe a setup to cause grief for hunters?

This really happened.
The Bear's name was Hope. Her mother's name was Lily. There is video of her being born out there somewhere. The research is being done by Dr. Lynn Rogers. IMHO Dr. rogers has found a way to scam money out of people, in the name of research. He has radio tracking collars on a number of Bears. He claims to be monitoring them, when he actually goes out and finds them and sits, watches and hand feeds. These bears are humanized to the point that they have no fear of man. I don't see how you can say that you are studying wild bears. Dr. Rogers has had issues with Minn DNR about his type of research  in the past.  You can find out more by going to Duluth News Tribune  Duluth, Minnesota
