Smartest thing this guy could do, is sell his guns, and buy some golf clubs. 'Course then he'ld probably hide under the tallest tree when a lightening storm comes thru, and hang onto his 9 iron! :o gypsyman

Hang fires can ruin your day. 

The wife and I were at the range one day.  She had shot several rounds through her Semi-auto 30-06.  Then a click.  At first she thought she was out of ammo, then she remembered she had a 10 round magazine, and had only fired like five shots.  She had turned and was looking at me ready to ask what to do now.  Her gun safety training made her keep her gun pointing down range.  BANG, it went off.  Recoil slammed it back into her ribs, but she clamped down on it to hold it steady, as it chambered another round.  I came over and unloaded the gun.  She was shooting factory ammo.  She complained with her ribs hurting for a week.  Never figured the cause of the hang fire.

WOW! You are right, I certainly hope he never passes on his DNA. I've only experienced 1 hang fire and it was with an in line muzzle loader. I to kept it pointed down range. Still scary when they do finally go bang.

I am calling bravo sierra on this. It looks staged. While he was looking down the barrel the angle he was holding the gun at would have likely sent the shot column right through the top of his forehead. Also when he shows the bill of the baseball hat there are no powder burns or soot on the inside.
 
The guy is stupid regardless. Why would you make a video about looking down the barrel of a loaded gun?

I believed it...at first... To tell the truth all I saw was utter stupidity, it NEVER entered my head a person would stage such a STUPID idea.. but I must say its easier to believe then someone actually doing it...

Did I miss something? If its fake, how did he get it to go off remotely?
I consider myself a scientific creationist but this gives Darwin's idea of natural selection some credibility.

A friend of mines grandson was deer hunting a few years ago. He sat the shotgun down, it went off, the slug cut right up the side of his face and scalp. The shotgun safety was defective. POWDERMAN.  :o :o

it does look staged, or at least a example of stupidity. but im curious about hangfires. i know they exist but ive never had one.i can understand them in a muzzel gun.a primer fires sending spark into the black powder which is perhaps damp or not conductive of ignition.a ember forms and eventually sets off the powder.the same thing happening in a  in a modern smokeless load seems unlikely but i guess it could happen.what do yu guys think?

I have experienced hangfires. I used to shoot benchrest with a group of guys, all reloaders. Every once in a while a bad primer would do that, or possibly not seated properly. The standard procedure when it happened was to keep the gun pointed in a safe direction and count to 10, most did it longer than that, before ejecting the ctg. Been a long time since I've had one, but they do happen. POWDERMAN.  ;D ;D

Hangfires are for real, the guy in the video may or may not be, doesn't matter.  Even if it's staged it's stupid to broadcast such a thing.  If I did something that dumb, I wouldn't want anyone to know.  Either way this guy is an idiot.

It is absolutley fake. rewatch it. At 20 seconds in when the professor is looking down the barrel pause it and look carefully at the angle of the barrel. It would have taken his head off. Also it appears that the "misfire" produced no recoil and then there is finally the sound of the last shot. The first two shots sounded real and echoed off of the surroundings. The sound of the third shot to the face sounds different almost like it was cut off due to some bad sound editing.
 
Not only is this guy an idiot when it comes to firearms but he is also a hack that cant produce a passable faked video ;)

The only hang fire I have experience with was with very old ammo in a 32-40(?)  there was a click and then a boom.
 
I could not imagine the damage a round could do if it went off after the action was unlocked. :o :o
