As to being a land holder to vote I believe that's the way it was when this nation started out. Changing that was likely the single biggest step in the downward spiral we're in now.

Yeah I know today that likely wouldn't work out well as a lot of folks who deserve to vote live in apartments and rent rather than own.

Still I do believe that no one who isn't productively employed or otherwise have an income to support themselves should be allowed to vote. As a minimum those on the public dole shouldn't be allowed to. Come to think of it that might cover congress critters too.

Well, today I guess I'd settle for just making sure we only let legal citizens vote. I do believe you are correct that long ago you needed to be a land owner. They also had aptitude tests you needed to pass in order to vote. That also is not a bad idea. The point back then was if you can’t read or write, how could you understand the issues enough to know how/who to vote for. Basic civics classes in school were designed to make sure our future voters understood how to analyze basic public issues and understand how government works/does not work and the role of government. They have pretty much stopped that now. So while a school has the capability to teach kids all kinds of advanced learning, they are ignorant about how government should work and its intended role in this country.

That is NOT by accident. It is very much part of the plan by those super rich folks who are now in control of our government. Our elected officials no longer work for the average citizen and don't care one whit what happens to us or this country.

I have not seen any more illegals herein Jacksonville..  I think they are all going to Miami. Maybe they will get  on a boat ....i mean rickety raft....to Cuba.

There's no work in FL.  They'll be back to rebuild FL after the next big hurricane.  They always do that.
