Well, today I guess I'd settle for just making sure we only let legal citizens vote. I do believe you are correct that long ago you needed to be a land owner. They also had aptitude tests you needed to pass in order to vote. That also is not a bad idea. The point back then was if you can’t read or write, how could you understand the issues enough to know how/who to vote for. Basic civics classes in school were designed to make sure our future voters understood how to analyze basic public issues and understand how government works/does not work and the role of government. They have pretty much stopped that now. So while a school has the capability to teach kids all kinds of advanced learning, they are ignorant about how government should work and its intended role in this country.
