Elite 3200 and SRH?
« on: January 08, 2004, 12:18:11 PM »
Just wondering if anybody has had any experience with the Bushnell Elite 2-6x32.  I've thought about putting one on my SRH.  I've seen them in the $200-$220 price range, sound reasonable?  I had a 2x Nikon on it and didn't especially care for it.  Nothing wrong with the Nikon, I just want a little more magnification.  Thanks in advance!

I have an Elite 3200 2-6x.  I really like it.  The only problem that I have with it is the Field of view is not very big.  As long as you don't take running shots at game, not a problem.  The Burris scope is good too, it has good Field of View but not as good eye relief.

If you want a cheaper scope, I like the Bushnell trophy series.  Good luck and good shooting!!

I have one on a FA .454 and it has held up fine so far.  The eye relief is such that I am thinking about putting it on a Contender for shooting silhouettes this coming season.

You can find my review of this scope at this URL:

It was tested on the FA83 and Taurus Raging Bull both in .454 Casull. Did a fine job.

I have two Elite 3200 scopes on 15 inch Encores (25-06 and .223 rem).  I purchased these scopes upon Graybeard recommendations.  They have held up an performed perfectly...In fact I  have moved up to the 4200 recently for a new rifle.

The constant eye releif of the 3200 handgun scope is very appealing to me but it is a trade off for the smaller field of view.

How far will you be shooting this gun?  I ask because I also have a SRH and will be putting a 4x Burris on it for next hunting season.  I tried a Red Dot sight and was dissapointed with the lack of light gathering (live and learn).  But  for my hunting needs, in thick woods I will be trying a 4x.

The price you are quoting is good, I paid $219  for mine two years ago.  Be sure to get your free bushnell rain coat coupon if it is still offered.

Good luck with your scope,

I have one on my SRH 454.  I have no complaints after several hundred full house and >1000 hot 45 loads.  I bought mine used on EBay.  Don't recall the exact price but it was in the $150 range.
Doin' my best to keep up with Maryland's one handgun a month law.

HoCoMDHunter,

Is that Maryland law requiring you to buy one handgun a month,  Man I wish Indiana could pass a law like that...bet they would never get it past my wife.

Good luck with your state imposed limitations.

Happy - Our ex-governer Glendenning was responsible for a couple of particularly onerous pieces of legislation.  One is the limit of an individual to only purchase one handgun a month.  This was supposedly to slow the practice of a person puchasing handguns and illegally selling them to those who would not be able to purchase the gun legally.  We let him know what we thought of this by doing our best to purshase one gun a month.
The second law was far worse.  It requires any handgun manufactured after Jan 1, 2003 to have a built in lock of some kind.  Selling it with a cable or trigger lock doesn't qualify.  This severely limits our selection of new pistols available to us (exactly his intent).  Taurus revolvers have the lock built into the hammer so they qualify, but few others do.  It seems that we are the only state with this restriction so the market for guns with the built in lock is too small for manufacturers to re-engineer for our sake.  I recently purchased a Ruger Vaquero in 45 Colt.  I wanted the 44 mag but they didn't have one and couldn't order one because of the ban.   :x Beretta's are made here in Accokeek, MD but they can't be sold in MD.
Doin' my best to keep up with Maryland's one handgun a month law.

Thanks to all who've replied.  I don't take running shots on game, so I'm not worried too much about the F.O.V.  I believe I read somewhere that they are coming out with Firefly reticle this year, I just don't know if I wanna wait for them to hit the market.  Anyway, thanks again, I appreciate the responses!

I have a Ruger SRH in .44 mag.  I started off with a Burris 2-7 scope and ended up selling it off.  With that money I bought a UltraDot.  I've been really happy with this set up.  Bagged a whitetail with it this year at about 40 yards.  I feel that the dot sight fit the .44 mag revolver better than a scope, but to each his own.

I recently purchased a 15" .308 Encore barrel and have the Elite 3200 2-6X in hand . . . just waiting for my Warne mount and rings to show up that I ordered.  So far, I think I'm happy with the Elite in the handgun form.  Should work out great on the .308 barrel.
