I guess I need a 22Hornet
« on: October 03, 2011, 03:08:12 PM »
My LGS had a sale on 35gn .224 bullets so I picked up a box figuring I could use them in my 222. I looked through my loading manuals tonight and none of them list any loads for bullets less than 40gn for the 222. Seems like a good reason to get a 22Hornet barrel, doesn't it?

entirely adequate reason I would think. I would further suggest somewhere around 11 gr of 4227 to go with them. ;)

It always starts with a component ;)   You are going to love that hornet when it follows you home now that you have something to feed it ;D

Good luck,

I couldn't agree,  ??? more that is.  ;)
Always buy the components first, that way, you have to buy the gun/barrel that it fits.
We wouldn't want the bullets to be laying around feeling unused, would we?

My quandary, I personally, don't think I have enough Handi's but, I know I have more Handi's than I really need or should have.

I had not shot my Handi 22 Hornet in 4 or more years. Shot it the other day, 3 shots, covered by a nickle at 100 yards. Will see a lot more use from now on!

I hate to be a stick in the mud but the Hodgdon website has .222 loads for 35g V max bullets...

Similar story here...  I only bought a Hornet in a handi about 4 or so years ago!! I have had a couple different rifles and pistols in Hornet, just never a handi. I always used my 223 to do what ever I needed. When I got it it sat for another year or so until I loaded up some recommended 35 Hornady's and Lil Gun powder... I was rewarded with tiny little groups. I knew I had another winner... That was a couple years ago...
Its a definite must have in anyone's Handi battery!!

Thanks guys, I did find the loads online. That means the hornet can wait 'till I find a deal on one.
