Anyone got a xp-100 in 260?
« on: January 09, 2004, 06:03:01 AM »
I missed one at a local gun shop by about 10 minutes!! The guy in front of me put 5 guns on lay-away and wouldn't even talk about selling the xp-100. Anyway, this was last year and i'm still searching for one at a resonable price. I love the 260 rem, its simply perfect. Does anyone have one of these jewels? Does anyone know when Remington will make them again?
          Thanks,GNNC

I picked up a Rem. XP100R in .260 about 3 months back. I was hesitant about getting the .260 cause I had several calibers close to that. After getting it, loading a few rounds, WOULDN'T TAKE FOR IT.  :)
I have loaded some 120 grn Speer Hot Core Spitzers with IMR 4895 and some Varget. At 100 yards my first load of Varget is putting three shots in a group under 1/2". The IMR 4895 will shoot 1" and probably with a little tweeking on the OAL it might get better. The Varget is clean burning and is very consistant in Velocity. I'm getting 2560 fps with the first Varget load. It is shooting one inch hight at 100yd and at 200 it's about 1" low at 200 yd. I have a 2x6 Baush/Lomb pistol scope on it right now but I'm saving for the Burris 3x12 B Plex to get all of the performance I can out of the .260 and Nosler Ballistic tips.
I have a 7-30 Waters, 309JDJ, but the .260 fills the gap between them.
Go for it. I got mine on Gun Brokers . com.

GNNC,
I have a 14 inch 260 Rem (in a MOA Maximum) and it is just a jewel to shoot.  My 14 year old daughter has taken a buck and doe with it and my 9 year old son has shot it effectively out to 500 meters on steel rams hitting 15 of them in a row.  I guess you could say it is a keeper.
