Wheel locks
« on: October 05, 2011, 12:31:29 PM »
Ok now that I have one of almost everyting else, I'm looking for a wheel lock.  Does anyone know of someone that makes one (at a price that's reasonably affordable)?  I've been cruising GB and AA for a long time looking for one, to no avail.  And, does anyone have any experience with them?

Interesting read, I may try to build one in the future (if the stars align correctly when the finances are available)

The biggest issue with getting a wheellock is finding a current manufacturer.  The flintlock supplanted the wheellock due to the costs and difficulty of building wheellocks when compared to flintlocks.  Dependability is said to have been equal.  I have seen one matchlock of recent manufacture, but I am not aware of any wheellock builders

There are some building them, but mainly for places wanting replicas.  The firing ones I have seen are 12k+ which didn't really fit with the OP's desire for reasonable price.  hehe
