H001 Front Sight

Is the front sight on the H001 easily changed to obtain different heights. From the catalog, I can not tell if it has a dovetail or not. Can someone let me know because I am thinking of buying one and I want to be able to change front sights to use a receiver mounted peep sight.

The H001 has a 1 piece front sight/barrel band.  The Frontier and Golden Boy models have a dovetailed front sight.
The Skinner barrel mount aperture sight should work with the standard H001 front sight.
 
Rimfire central has numerous threads on options/fixes for using aperture sights on the Henry.

The Henry H001 Standard barrel band front sight will readily/easily zero using a Williams WM-96 Peep Sight mounter atop the receiver cover ( 1 hole D/T).
 

 
I had to apply some bright orange sight paint to the tip of the front sight, to help my old eyes, but ti make a compact rig.
 

 
Since I did that, however, Hi-Viz has stepped up & is supplying a fiber-optic replacement front sight/barrel band for the Henry H001 standard levergun & H003 pumpgun.
Anthony Imperato, the Henry Prexy, made the announcement the 1st week of Nov 2011.

If you have tried adding a receiver sight (or needed a different front sight) to a Henry Repeating Arms Rimfire round barrel lever action rifle, you may have discovered that the one piece front sight/ramp/barrel band combo leaves very few options for a change.

Skinner Sights will be offering a modification to the STEEL (not the former plastic) front sight/ramp/band combos that will allow mounting the front sight of your choice.

We will dovetail the sight ramp with a standard 3/8" dovetail and Hot Blue the assembly for $25. (Initial Price, if we find that is not cost effective there will be an increase) If you want a Skinner Patridge Front sight installed, we can do that also and ship it back to you assembled.

Send me the Sight/Ramp/Band Assembly and a check for the $25 plus $7 return shipping and allow two weeks turn around time. Be sure to pack it well and include the mounting screw. (For a fitted Skinner Patridge front sight add $20 for Blue and $22 for Brass)

(Front sight hood will still fit with this modification but the distance from the top of a taller front sight to the hood will of course be smaller)
