I called Hornady and spoke to one of their "TECK" men, he told me that the 17 Hornady Hornet cases were the full length hornet case and that i could shoot them in my .17 AH. I bought some cases and they're about a 1/16" shorter than a hornet case, so much for the TECH man, the Ackley shoulder is about 1/16" further forward than the Hornady. They wouldn't chamber in my Ackley (shoulder is slightly larger) but after running them thru my size die they chambered and fireformed fine. Been shooting both the Hornady 20 vmax and the 25 HP, using 680. 300 yds. it's just stacking one on top of the other. This in a small Martini that I built in 1973. Been hanging on the wall for yrs. but I'm hot for it again now. I'm getting 3500 with the 25 gr. and 3750 with the 20 vmax with no obvious pressure signs. Wind doesn't seem to bother it any more than a .223.
