If you only have 50 yrds to sighting in a huntsman 50cal where should the point of impact be, I'am using 70 grains of blackhorn 209, with a cast 45 cal long colt 310 grain slug, using a mmp sabot? KERNBIGO

Not that what I do is right, but I sight in at 60 yards using a 240 gr. hollow point sabot. Powered by 80 grains of BH 209, I try to group one inch high. I usually put the sights dead on all the way out to 100 yards and have found out the deer don't care for my sighting technique.

I think you would certainly be in the ballpark sighting in one inch high as well if your shots would be limited to 100 yards.

The following link should answer a lot of questions :

Personally, I sight in 1 inch high at 25 yards. It works for me.

I try to zero @ 75 yards and what I have found is you will keep the bullet in the kill zone from in close to 100 but the likleyhood of take a 100yard shot are unlikely for me. Kurt

For a given load it will vary depending on if you are shooting open sights or a scope.  The offset between the bore centerline and the scope centerline will usually be a 1/2" or more greater than the difference with open sights.  With a scope and a 1.5" offset, 1 to 2 inch high @ 50 yards should get you close with a MZ.

Your load may be a bit high @ 100 yards, assuming you are using a scope, but not real bad as your load would probably chrony around 1500 FPS.  I shoot a 385 grain 45 cal conical, in a 45/50 sabot out of my huntsman with 75 grains of BH209.  At 2" high @ 50 yards it is about deadnutz @ 100 yards.  IIRC, this load chronied in the low 1,400 FPS range.

Actually, you should be good to go, and dead on at 150 yards. See the link I posted earlier and go to the ballistic information section.
