Handi Maxi scare !
« on: October 08, 2011, 01:42:53 PM »
Have not had my Handi max out since early last spring. Since then I have changed the stocks to BC and put a Bushnell 3x9-40 scope on it. Well today I grabbed it and my Contender super 14 Maxi and some rounds and headed out back. We have a little shooting range of 75 yards.  Fired twice at target on the 75 yard post with the Handi. Then got the Contender out fired couple rounds then went to check out the target(need spotting scope) Handi target was BLANK!! :o  Contender put them where I likem  ;) . Went back and checked out the Handi. Duh the scope rings were a hair loose. Tightend down. Then got to thinking. Pretty sure I never bore sighted it ::)   Eye balled thru the barrel and then scope at the 50yd target a foot low and 8" right ???  Thinking maybe I never finished installing the scope :-[  Adjusted the scope, fired hair low. Readjusted bingo 2" over at 75 yards. Now to wait untill the crops are out of the field, that is where we shoot to 100+.

Contender on the other hand. Was shooting clay pigeons at 75 yards ;D  That gun is so fun, and makes me look good too 8)

Moral of the story, make sure you finish the scope mounting before you get side tract and put it away.

I'm glad it was an easy fix and you figured it out right away before you wasted too much ammo.  :)

If I were a kid now days, they would say I have ADD. But my wife says its an old age thing, where I get side tract to easy. I blame it on her and the kids, Dad I need, Honey can you look at this.  ;)

I figured it was something simple. I took to deer last year with the same loads I shot today.

Re: "side tract."  If I can brag, I'm a dang good pool shooter.  Back a year or two ago when I was shooting almost daily my buddies discovered a "side tract" which almost always made me miss the 8-ball.  I'd be lined up and ready to sink the 8-ball and win the game, and they'd send a little bouncy bouncy hottie strolling beside the table in direct line with my aim.  'Twas a dirty trick, IMHO.

If you hang around barroom pool tables much, notice how some guys will become obnoxious in order to get their opponent mad.  Some of them work in pairs, them and a buddy.  Even a slightly mad pool shooter will lose his finesse.  Notice how some guys will suddenly engage their opponent in conversation when the opponent is lining up a critical shot. The opponent loses his concentration and misses the shot. There was a certain fellow who would always stand behind the 8-ball when I was aiming at it.  I couldn't look at the 8-ball without looking at his crotch.  One day I had enough of him and walked to his side.  And I said, "If you don't stop putting your crotch behind the 8-ball when I'm shooting at it, I'll tell every woman in the bar that you have AIDS."

He never did it again.  Several times I almost put low English on the cue ball and sent it at high speed into his crotch, but that would have meant losing the game.  But, still, I wish I'd done it at least once.....

They say as we get older there's two things we lose. First is the memory and the second one I can't remember. ;D

Of all the things I've lost, I miss my mind the most. ???
