Hello all,
My first post here on GBO. Just picked up my first handi rifle in recent history, havent owned one in many years. Got a Trapper in 357 and it is the definition of "Handy". I purchased rifle to be a host for a Thompson Machine ISIS silencer, and I think it is going to work work out great. Got my inspiration from AAC's 300 Blackout Handi Rifle that is due out soon. Looks like the press photos of it are of a trapper style rifle. I just prefer the much cheaper 38/357 for this particular purpose. It will be doing double duty as a youth pig rifle as well, was hoping to puck up a spare wood stock to cut down for that purpose.
I had only one problem with the rifle in that when I opened up the box the front sight was missing. I eventually found it and the screw. The sight had popped off due to the screw being far to short to adequately engage the threading in the barrel. Any ideas on what thread pitch this might be? Would I be better off with retapping to a larger size? Any input is appreciated. I will be redrilling at some point either way, as I am going to shorten the barrel to 16" when I thread the muzzle and move the front sight back.
Think I will send it in for a shotgun barrel to be fitted as well as a trigger job. I think the 357 with an accessory 28ga barrel will be a fantastic youth combo.
