Its been fun...
« on: October 12, 2011, 09:52:02 AM »
Well I had my Handi all packed and in a custom made rifle box ready for shipment to get the barrel fitted, but the day I was heading to the post office I got a call from my boss saying I need to head into work, so he could fire me. Then I get home and find my car wouldnt start and found surgar in the gas cap...

So needless to say the gun has to go for now, along with my reloading stuff I just bought. I just got done fixing up my work bench to convert to a reloading bench and had 150 rounds all made up with different powder weights. Its a shame... becuase im not sure anyone would a rifle that has a gap and kinda loose...

Its been fun though guys, ill be back when I get another. Not sure what to do with this in the mean time.

What caiber, stock, and frame, and how much?
If it has a barrel and shoots bullets I am interested in it and if I don't have one I want one.  Never met a gun I didn't like.

Zach,
That sounds like a real bad day at work. :(   Remember, everything happens for a reason. I hope things get better for you real soon. If you want to sell your rifle, I would suggest you move the conversation to the Classifieds. Just be up-front with the details of the rifle and let others make their decisions.

Thanks, Dinny

+1 on what Dinny said.  Since it doesn't fit together well, you may want to consider parting it out.  You'd probably get more for it that way.

You're the second guy on this forum that I know of that lost his job this week.....not a good thing.  Best of luck.

Zach!!

I am so very sorry about what you are going through right now.  As for your rifle, If you send it in to Remington right now I will repair your loose barrel under warranty for you. That way if you do decide to sell it, you will know it is safe to use and you should be able to get a better price for a proper working rifle.Call Remington in Madison N.C. and ask for a shipping label, explain to them that the barrel is very loose.  And include a note with you rifle stating your problems, send, Attn: Brian Johnson. Good luck to you Zach and your family.

I had a friend who got fired from ATT.  Our pastor pointed out that he'd hated the job, and would never get a better one if he'd stayed there.  Some prayer treatments and three weeks later he found the job of his dreams.

Same thing sorta happened to me.  If I hadn't been laid off from my last job I'd never have looked for better and ended up with this awesome one.

You gotta let go of the old to accept the new.  You can't grasp something new if your hands are full of the old.

You got a good attitude, and the Universe knew you didn't belong there.  You'll do well.

Brian, you're a stand up guy!  And Remington is right there with you for giving you the latitude to do things like you just did.  I hope you both collect on the million dollars worth of good will you just garnered.

Way ta go, Brian!! As posted, you've done more good for Remington with that one post than they (Remington) could do with a million dollar ad campaign, 'cause they can't be trusted 100%. Hope Zach follows you up on that repair note.

Zach, as posted, you can't get a better job until you let go of the old job. I'm 62 next sunday and I was laid off for over a year in a place I "thought" I wanted to spend my retirement. My 2nd ex-wife notified me of a job in my specialty over 900 miles from where I wanted to be, back to where my kids lived. Now I got the job, and the kids, all adults, are tickled to death that "Dad is back within reach" and I have been returned to my beloved Wyoming, my adopted Home state, to the same town I lived in from 1985-2002. I couldn't be happier. God does work mysteriously, and HE will for you, too, IF you believe. It's not hocus-pocus, and it's not mumbo-jumbo. It is a way of life far better than I did for myself. Good luck, and don't be surprised when you see where you are going.

I wouldn't want to test the sugar in the tank myth.
Just because it didn't happen for them doesn't mean it can't.
To many in the past have found differently.
Ammo & gun mfg havn't been able to blow up the handguns from undercharges either but it is proven to have happened.

Hope everything works out for you Zack!

Geez guys thanks! You know it made this day so much better getting on here and listening to everything you guys have said. It gives me comfort that there are good guys out there like you that look out and take care of complete strangers, for nothing more then the feeling of doing what is right.

I know things happen becuase there is something else planned for me, Im going strong and not letting it take me down, it is just such a bummer becuase Im going to have to put off my love for shooting becuase of what has happend. Thanks for the support guys! i really appreciate it, alot!

And you guys are right, it doesnt trash the engine, but clogs filterand burns the pump. Luckely the shop I worked for let me use it after hours to do my own labor and let me buy it at their cost, not retail. I did however have to get my gas tank sent out to boil the surgar out because there was so much i was not able to wash it out with anything but water, and it will rust where the lastic baffle is becuase i couldnt dry it. All in all it was a $750 fix including a full tank of gas. ALSO my uncle might have a job for me at his shop again, part time, but i enjoy it more.  ;D

And to Brian, There is no better feeling then to have someone pick up and do something for someone when they cannot. Even though it is not an absolute need, its one thing I have been wanting to do since I got the rifle, and Im glad I will still be able to do it! A PM will be sent to you shortly!!

Thanks again everyone, Gottalove GBO

look at the bright side, get the rifle fixed and since your not working you'll have plenty of time to test loads, jobs come and go you'll get another, spend plenty of time with friends and family while your looking they will appreciate the time.
