MILLERSBURG, Ohio -- Holmes County Sheriff Timothy Zimmerly has confirmed that two more Amish men have turned themselves into his department after being accused of breaking into a home of a Holmes County Amish family and not only cutting off the beard of a bishop, but the hair of the bishop’s wife. A total of five were arraigned in that county Wednesday, Oct. 12, 2011.

The latest Amish men to turn themselves in are Daniel Mullet, 37, along with Eli Miller, 32. Also accused are Levi Miller, 53; Johnny Mullet, 38; and Lester Mullet, 26, who were arrested on Friday, Oct. 7, 2011, on charges of kidnapping and aggravated burglary. Those three originally told the Jefferson Count judge Tuesday, that they wanted Bishop Sam Mullet to decide if they should waive extradition, but later agreed on their own. The three accused were being held at the Jefferson County Justice Facility, in a segregated area, on $250,000 cash bond each, according to reports. The trio told the judge that Bishop Mullet was expected to arrive with the $750,000 cash bond needed to be freed. Bishop Mullet did show up, but did not have the money; therefore, Holmes County came and transported back to their jail, sources said.

According to the sheriff, all are now being held on $50,000 cash/surety bonds. They will have a preliminary hearing on Oct. 19, 2011, in Holmes County Common Pleas Court.

Sheriff Abdalla confirmed that one Amish member of the Bergholz community was allegedly locked into a chicken coop as punishment for disagreeing with the Amish Bishop.

"If he is not responsible for the attacks then we are arresting his soldiers." Abdalla said when referring to Bishop Sam Mullet. Abdalla believes that Mullet ordered the attacks against other Amish faithful.

Two of the men arrested are Sam Mullet's sons. Abdalla believes that the attacks against other Amish have stopped.

Powder, give it a rest. You don't have to make every danged thread about Moslems. Someone could post about bread and you would find a way to twist it to spew your "I hate moslems" mantra which we have all read countless times. You are as bad as those in the revived religion sub-fora that can't seem to mention God or the Bible without making some nasty comment about Catholics. Enough already.

All this proves is that the Amish are human just like the rest of us. Every once in a while you'll read about some of their youth getting drunk and rebelling against their parents, just like the rest of us, but it happens much less frequently in their world than ours. We could all learn a lot from them. If the shtf they will survive quite well. Unlike many other Christians they live as such daily, not just on Sunday morning. POWDERMAN.

Theres a flap a few counties over with some Amish refusing to allow the orange triangle signs on the back of their buggies so others can more easily see them, clearly a safety issue. Several have been fined and had short jail time. They claim that they are forbidden to draw attention to themselves. Cars hitting these buggies are not uncommon. This is one time I feel they are wrong. POWDERMAN.

No need to lock it, there are a lot of Amish in our area, several have businesses. Stores, bakery, furniture makers, all hard working and honest, lots of mennonites too. POWDERMAN.

When I worked at walmart I was working sptg goods one day and an Amish man and his son came in to buy deer hunting licenses. Indiana requires a ss# for the license. The man said his son didn't have one because he had not come of age and was not a man yet. I believe he said that they do not get SS#s for their children til they come of age, which I believe was 14-16?? Our hands were tied. The local warden happened to come by and the boss explained the dilemna that they were in. He personally called Ind fish and game and after some talking told us to sell him the licenses, then, smiling, he shook hands with both father and son and wished them good luck. It was the sons first deer hunt. POWDERMAN.
