I also need info on this one. Was just packing up a receiver I am sending in for repairs and figured I would get a barrel while there and was looking at the ballistics for this one. Would like to lnow how the handi in this caliber performs.

Have seen one shot, but never got a chance myself.  Pretty good kick for a little bugger.  hehe  Guy was shooting it at the gong and the ones he had went right through it.  Seems like a good varmint caliber.

I don't have the Choate stock fluted barrel UV, I have a set of "Limited Edition" green laminates and the standard contour barrel... I barely lose the sight picture with recoil.  I like the .204 for prairie dogs out to about 300 yards.  My barrel seems to like 40 grain Vmax the best.  The ammo was made by HSM.  I can't find them at the local Sportsman's Warehouse anymore, so the winter project is working up a comparable load.

I sent my BC in several years ago and had the standard .204 barrel put on at the factory. It shoots 40 gr. Hornady and 32 gr. Winchester like a dream. It's the only center fire rifle I have ever shot that you can see the holes appear in the target before recoil moves the rifle!

mine is the plane jane 204 22'' barrel. shoots 1/2 inch groups easy. it actually out shoots my 22-250. ammo is a little pricey when you pick up a box it fills empty always check.

i still have the ultra varmint.
it started as a .204  it was one that had a over sized bore.
h&r did me right by swapping out the barrel. so now it is a 22-250 but still a ultra varmint.
i like the stock design.. but it did take a little getting used too.
it has a harris bi pod on the for arm lug and it is capable of better groups than i am 2" groups at a 100 yrds is my best for a five shot group with factory ammo.
the .204 was a lot quieter tho.

Easiest way I know of is to stick a new bullet in the  end of of the barrel if it goes all the way in it is oversize.
A old gunsmith showed this trick back in the last century along with the sage advice of never by a gun without checking bore visually and with a bullet. This wisdom has saved me a lot of money and headaches over the years
